Are You Sure You Want to Marry

Are You Sure You Want to Marry

Remember being young and wanting to get married with the picket fence and white house. Well, if you are like me it didn't play out like that dream of happily ever after. Reality of life kicked in with the bills, mortgage, careers and kids. Relationships and communication went on the back burner and you ask yourself this isn't what I thought I bought. Well sister you did and frankly I would like a refund.

Do you ever wish you were in your twenties again and young and full of ideas and excitement. Going when, where and doing what you wanted without the approval of the other. Not having to cook dinner and put kids to bed and do homework. Frankly I want to hide under the covers  like a turtle. I am thinking when does the next bus leave, so I can jump on it. Just go anywhere without responsibilities hanging over my head and kids yelling Mom for every little thing. What the hell was I thinking?

There is the up side of marriage, you have someone going through the same trials in life as you. Struggling to pay bills and keep food and a roof over us. A place to run and hide when the real world gets too much. So which is it I value more my freedom or someone by my side as long as we aren't arguing. It's a toss up for me. I just want the best of both worlds and throw the ugly away. I have been here 25 years, so I don't know if I know much else. Oh well, life goes on and I can do that dreaming thing again.
